Ministry Volunteer Requirements
All volunteers with
Faith Community must complete the following:Current Ministry Opportunities

SAY Yes! Tutor
Length of Commitment: September 2006-May 2007
Time Commitment: 2 hours per week on site
Schedule: Either Tuesday or Wednesday 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1-3 elementary age children assistance and support with homework, reading, and math skills. Learning materials such as dictionaries, flash cards, and books are provided.
2. Provide spiritual and emotional support to students by active listening and praying with the student.
3. Assist with other aspects of the SAY Yes! program to include: crafts, story telling, recreation, practical living skills.
4. Assist with set up and clean up of the SAY Yes! center.
5. Attend quarterly SAY Yes! staff meetings (held at SAY Yes! time when school is on break).
6. Pray for the ongoing ministries of SAY Yes! and the students involved

Teen Discipleship Small Group FacilitatorLength of Commitment: September 2006-May 2007
Time Commitment: 2 hours per week on site
Schedule: Wednesday evenings 6:45-8:45 p.m.
Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate discussion with small group of 3-5 teens (gender specific – ladies with teen ladies; guys with teen guys). Discussion questions will be provided and will follow a Bible teaching.
2. Interact in a positive manner with teens during fellowship time.
3. Provide spiritual and emotional support to teens by active listening and praying with students.
4. Assist with set up and clean up of teen meeting area.
5. Attend quarterly teen leadership meetings. These are typically held when students are on break from school.
6. Pray for ongoing teen ministries and students involved.

Teen Outreach AssistantLength of Commitment: September 2006-May 2007
Time Commitment: 3 hours on site, twice a month
Schedule: 1st and 3rd Friday of each month; 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist with outreach activity – I.e. indoor games like Uno, movie night, video game competition, etc.
2. Periodically assist with transportation of teens to an off-site event.
3. Interact in a positive manner with teens during fellowship time.
4. Provide spiritual and emotional support to teens by active listening and praying with students.
5. Assist with set up and clean up of teen meeting area.
6. Attend quarterly teen leadership meetings. These are typically held when students are on break from school.
7. Pray for ongoing teen ministries and students involved.

Children’s Church TeacherLength of Commitment: July 2006-June 2007
Time Commitment: 2 hours per month on site; 1 hour preparation time
Schedule: Sunday morning 9:30-11:30 a.m.; once a month
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and teach a 45 minute class session for 6-8 elementary age children. Curriculum will be provided.
2. Provide spiritual and emotional support to children by active listening and praying with students.
3. Interact in a positive manner with children and their families.
4. Assist with set up and clean up of children’s class area.
5. Attend periodic children’s worker training/leadership meeting.
6. Pray for ongoing children’s ministry and students involved.

Organization Description:
Faith Community
is a church plant of the Christian & Missionary Alliance (www.cmalliance.org). started in 2004. The C&MA is active around the world in evangelism and discipleship, primarily through church planting.Jeff & Sue Rowe are licensed, ordained/consecrated workers with the C&MA. They helped plant a city church in Cleveland, OH prior to coming to Columbus. They are both from the west side of Columbus and have a heart to see God develop a multicultural, caring community of growing Christians in the area east of Hague, south of Broad, west of Central, and north of Eakin. Strategies have included:
1. Survey the community to determine needs.
2. After school SAY Yes (
www.sayyescenters.org) program for elementary children, mostly from John Burroughs Elementary School. The program includes homework help, Bible lesson, and learning lifeskills.3. Teen discipleship groups for students who have professed Christ as Savior. Divided into young men and young women.
4. Adult small groups in homes that include food, fellowship, Bible discussion, prayer, and outreach.
5. Outreach events: Sports Camp, Vacation Bible School, Basketball League, Teen Open House, Backyard Cookouts, Halloween Light the Night, Radio U Dance Team, Egg Hunt, etc.

Target Population
The area we are reaching consists of a cultural/ethnic/racial mix of Appalachian white, African American, Cambodian/Thai, Mexican, and Somalian. Fewer than 70% of adults are high school graduates. Many have difficulty with employment, education, substance abuse, and alcoholism. Criminal activity includes gang activity, prostitution, drug distribution, theft, vandalism, and assault.
